  1. Well Done Sir Andy - ATP Title First After Hip Surgery

    Well Done Sir Andy -

ATP Title First After Hip Surgery

Well, well would you believe it the kid from Dunblane has done it again.  Sir Andy has won another title and got himself back in the Davis Cup squad. Andy had already made his intentions clear that he wanted to play in the Davis Cup finals. His weekend win in three sets over Swiss meister  Stan Wawrinka to claim the European Open in Antwerp, made sure of his place in the Davis Cup team only seven singles tournaments into his comeback from hip surgery.

The finals will take place in Madrid in November in a new format that has received almost universal criticism. Davis Cup captain and coach Leon Smith announced four of his five-man team – the singles players Murray and Dan Evans, alongside the doubles pairing of Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski. The GB captain will chose between Cameron Norrie and Kyle Edmund soon. Edmund

  2. Man’s Best Friend – Good for Your Health

    Man’s Best Friend –

    Good for Your Health

Well last week we learned that owning a dog was the best medicine for you if you have been ill and that walks and cuddles with man’s best friend was the cat’s pyjamas as far as getting better is concerned. The research is startling. Heart attack survivors in the study who were living alone, but owned a dog, had a 33% lower risk of death, while stroke survivors who lived alone and had a dog had a 27% reduced risk of a nasty end, compared to people who did not own a dog and lived in a single household group. It was heart warming stuff. But me, I don’t own a dog, although the first thing everyone said when they found out I was going to live on the beach was ,’”Are you going to buy a dog?” Well no, was the answer. And on a day like today when the dreich gets to the bones  and we are forever caught between heavy and blustery showers the lonely dog walkers cut

    Good News Bad News -

    And the Great Dunblane Banger

Well I spent part of yesterday watching James Murray and Neal Skupski losing in straight sets in the Shanghai Open semi final after they had pulled off a great match against Novak Djokovic and  Filip Krajinović of Serbia in the quarters. It was a real shame neither of our guys fired up at the same time and they went out in straight sets to Jamie’s old partner Bruno Soares and likeable hothead Mate Pavic. A baddish day for the Murrays, but good news was on the horizon. Brother Jamie announced that wife Kim was expecting baby number 3 and anytime soon. Well they kept that under wraps didn’t they?  Naturally it will have to be fitted in around tennis as Murray junior carries on in his rehabilitation after drastic hip surgery in February this year.

  4. Nosey Parkers?- Scotland Set for Parking Levy

    Nosey Parkers?-

    Scotland Set for Parking Levy

Do you have a parking spot at work provided for you by your employer? Well it looks like someone is going to have to pay for it. Luckily it probably won’t be you in the short run as the levy will be applied to your employer.  If like many of us you are car dependent with train services not accessible and local bus services a standing joke then this will only add to the strain of running your own transport. It seems that there is now a firm plan to give local councils the power to charge a levy on workplace parking. The proposal is part of a series of changes to transport in Scotland that are now certain to make it into law. The government's transport bill will also shake up bus services, introduce low emission zones in cities and ban parking on pavements. All of which I suppose are certain to be part of a future when we have protesters
