The Spirit of Scotland

Celebrate, Taste and Enjoy

As you might recall I wrote about the exciting year with loads of events in 2016 as the Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design kicks in. Well one of the most exciting events is going to be a whisky festival in Speyside which will warm the coldest cockles on a freezing day.

Called the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival celebrates the area which contains about half of Scotland’s whisky distilleries and which make a massive contribution to the country’s economy, with some billions of pounds and on the way enriched the world’s taste buds.

2016 the Year of ‘Proud’

A major festival aims to show how the country’s whisky industry has been built on the very principles being recognised by Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design. VisitScotland is the leading agency in the drive to celebrate all things Scottish and the whisky festival is sure to attract thousands and thousands of visitors.  Many distilleries not normally open to the public will welcome visitors to their plants over five days of the festival where those interested can sample exclusive tastings, tours and whisky appreciation classes.

Four Hundred Whisky Events

All in all the four hundred events of the festival and if that’s not something for everyone, then you are a teetotaller. Although even those not into a dram can go on scenic heritage walks.
