For some the classic gin Martini is "the only American invention as perfect as the sonnet” others call it "the elixir of quietude," but whatever your feelings about the lyricism of language about gin, you have to admit it is the drink of the moment. And it is the pride of Scotland. The nation has its own club for gin drinkers called unsurprisingly enough; The Gin Club and they exist to promote this great Scottish beverage.
Now in 2016 about 70% of gin made in the UK is distilled in Scotland, including three bestsellers – Tanqueray , Hendrick’s, and the world’s premier seller one Gordon’ London Dry Gin.

Scottish Awards Debut
In Pitlochry the very first Scottish Craft Distillers Association Awards for gin were won by Strathearn Distillery for Oaked Highland who got the gold. Silver went to Dunnet Bay Distillery with Rock Rose. Third place and bronze went to the Glasgow Distillery Company for Makar.

The gin creating bug has reached even academia where the Professor Porter of Aberdeen University has distilled the very essence of the granite city and made the first licit gin in Aberdeen for over a hundred years, and it’s proved to be every popular! The age of gin drinkers has also changed with the drink ever more popular in the lives of twenty and thirty-somethings.
