When Giants Ruled Skye and We Offer Major Discounts

Now we all know about that well known” documentary” Jurassic Park has lessons about the recreation of dinosaurs and this week dinosaurs, Dire Wolves and Universal Studios which made the aforementioned “dinodoc” are all in the news.

Some Americans claim that they have “de-extincted” the Dire Wolf, as famously seen in the royalty succession documentary Game of Thrones, but generally speaking it isn’t a great idea to bring back massive carnivores willy nilly. In fact the de-extinction is a little bit of fakeish news. The scientists have blended Dire Wolf DNA with living grey wolves and produced a lookalike of the great white predator, but it’s essentially a grey wolf. Meanwhile Universal Studios who made Jurassic Park are set to open up Europe’s largest theme park near Bedford. There you’ll be able to see recreations from the movie and scare the kids with an imitation Tyrannosaurus rex and loads of smaller dinosaurs from the film. All of this is really a bit of makebelieve, because the Dire Wolf became extinct more than 10,000 years ago, when humans might have been on the menu and the dinosaurs became ceased some 66 million years ago. But there is mo make believe about some giant dinosaur footprints that have been found on Skye. They have found a huge number of footprints, some 131 in all and perfectly preserved in sandstone including an ancient ancestor of Tyrannosaurus rex. If you know about the weather on Skye you’ll be aware it’s not always warm and toasty, but the explanation is that the island was once much nearer the Equator and at the latitude that Spain now inhabits.

The footprints were found near Prince Charles’s Point where Bonnie Prince Charlie escaped from the English hunters after the unsuccessful Rising in 1745 leading to his exile in Europe apart from one brief visit to London, no doubt in anticipation of the opening of the Universal theme park near Bedford!  But that would be fake news.
