The 1 Per Cent Club and James Pirie? Really?
The 1 Per Cent Club and James Pirie? Really?
The missus and me like a game show now and then, but it takes a strong concept to get us really interested. Pointless was fun for a while and we’ve always liked being completely baffled by Victoria Corin-Mitchell’s Only Connect , although I’m always rather more puzzled by her strange monologue at the beginning of the show. However, talented Lee Mack, the Lancastrian comic, presents one of the most gripping. It’s The 1% Club. It’s a simple idea, sample the population with brain teasers and puzzles and work your way up to a maximum win of £100,000. The 1% Club won the Quiz Game Show Award at the 2023 and even better the best entertainment show twice in a row. More importantly for stressed broadcasters in this internet age it appeals to a younger audience, because it doesn’t take formal education just brain power. Its biggest number of watchers was over 5 million, which is pretty enormous these days of fractured viewing, where people like us almost never watch in real time any more.
I can normally get down to the 5% question; I’m a big head eh? But last night I was out at the 90% question when I could not count the number of yellow cars properly. My brain doesn’t like those visual counting ones. So the missus reminded throughout the program of my abysmal failure.
But here at James Pirie we believe in making life better and our version of the 1% giveaway is a cracking reduction for everyone, not just the lucky winner. With us you are all lucky winners! If you want to save a whopping 80% off some lovely whisky glasses take a look here at the slight seconds of two large crystal tumblers in the Reflections range from Royal Scot Crystal in a special midnight blue presentation box. The blurb says it will add a touch of sparkle and glamour to your home bar. Couldn’t say it better myself. Grab them while stocks last.
