SPRING HAS SPRUNG
Spring Has Sprung the Sap Has Ris
I wonder where the birdies is?
That’s the late great Ogden Nash who didn’t have to live through Storm Kathleen which yesterday whipped away a lot of our beach and as I sit here typing it is lashing the house with high winds and waves in April. It’s the price we have to pay for living in these latitudes I suppose, but there is good news out there. Do you remember Gary the Gorilla who went missing last year?Well Gary has been found under a hedge. As Ian Hislop said on the BBC’s Have I Got News For You this week, how on earth did it take Police Scotland take so long to find 8ft (2.4m) fibreglass statue in a hedge? Gary went AWOL in March last year from a garden nursery in sunny Carluke and was much missed, making the national news when a lookalike was spotted on the back of a lorry in England. However it wasn’t Gary as he was one of eight fibreglass gorillas from the same mould.
The good workers of Bear Scotland who maintain our roads found gorilla Gary in a lay-by on the A92, I suppose it made a change from looking at potholes. The Police, hover, had no comment to make on Mr Hislop’s scathing remarks. Gary will soon be bolted down and again reminding the public that the Carluke garden centre exists, so come and spend a few bob.
And here at James Pirie we don’t have a giant gorilla to remind you of the excellent value on offer. I suppose On- Line that kind of physical marker isn’t available to us. So here’s a timely reminder of our GIANT SPRING SALE, it’s not the same is it just writing in CAPITAL LETTERS is it? It just makes me sound like Donald Trump!
