When I was working for a national Sunday I was once offered drive around a Formula 1 racetrack in a Ferrari. One of the rules forbids the drivers from practising, but local residents will no doubt having an advantage driving the routes every day, which will help them to spot pesky pot holes and the like. .
The rally takes place over two days and is now in its fifth year. The race has five teams racing this year, one of which features a local copper who would normally be ticketing local speedsters and not joining in the high revving sport. The course isn’t solely through the town centre it also winds through some very scenic countryside through the Cowal Peninsula's and through Millhouse and Glendaruel. The rally adds to the economic activity in the town and the spotlight brings important benefits, despite some road closures.
