Flags Out for Andy –

Wimbledon Winner Bears Standard and Sells Winning Shirt for Charity

The favourite son of Dunblane is having a heck of a year. First he wins Wimbledon for the second time and now he’s carrying the flag for Team GB in the Rio Olympics. And his Wimbledon shirt signed and framed is go on sale for Malaria No More a charity which aims to stop this dreadful killer

The Standard Bearer

His rehearsal with the flag didn’t go exactly as planned, he nearly did for Princess Anne with the pole and twice covered her head with it during the official photograph, but all will be well later when he proudly walks at the head of the team in Rio.

Andy wore the shirt for sale when he beat Milos Raonic on July 10 to win his second Wimbledon title and his third Grand Slam and he is aiming for another double in his second gold medal in Rio. In 2012 Andy was miffed that he only won silver in the mixed doubles, but is determined to put all that behind him and win again, in what could become a truly golden year, with the Grand Slam finals in France and Australia already played.

Late Nights Ahead

The Rio tennis runs from the 5th August to the 21st and our defending champion Andy will face Viktor Troicki in the first round. More power to his elbow. But the timings may be a bit haywire as much of the coverage has been paid for by the Americans and they are dictating the schedules for the U S West Coast, so you may have a few late nights ahead of you in supporting our women and men.
