Orkney Ring Saga- No Hobbits Involved
Orkney Ring Saga-
No Hobbits Involved
An Orkney couple have had a lucky find. The husband, poor soul, had lost his wedding ring walking on the beachand was distraught. He’s a keen dog walker and walks all over Orkney and he was definitely in the dog house with losing it, but he wasn’t there for long. It was two long months before he could bring himself to confess to the missus that he’d lost the ring and it seemed to them both that it was gone forever. But on a walk with the dogs there it was- a shiny object under a stone on the Sands of Wright beach on South Ronaldsay. What a great find! Marriage saved, dogs walked, ring found. Which put me in mind of finding a wedding ring very recently here.
Wrestling with Windows, Not a Microsoft Issue
As regular readers of this blog will know I recently moved into a house on the beach and have been finding out about life exposed to the elements and it isn’t all seaweed and cockleshells I can tell you. The patio windows were in somewhat of a state so I got the chappie who fitted them to pop round and relieve us of a serious amount of money to get them at least straight again. Well after grunting and groaning for a day like five rounds with Mick MacManus he and his colleague had somewhat fixed the windows.
Bored of the Rings
I got a call later that night to say he’d lost his wedding ring while going two falls, a submission or a knockout with the double glazing. And I might add I was later to find out the windows had won. So blow me down, as we livers by the sea might say, I went out with a torch and then got up with the larks and spent 3 hours searching everywhere, finding it at last under my car. Well marriage saved I thought and at least that man will be pleased to come back and help if needed. Two weeks later the windows leaked and would he come back, even to say thank you and fix the windows, would he heck and we had to call in another firm?
