The Trek to the Post Box – Is it a Red Letter Day?
The Trek to the Post Box –
Is it a Red Letter Day?
Well good news for some in that the Post Office, okay Royal Mail, are installing about150 new post boxes in Scotland this spring. This is happening despite the habit of writing and sending letters being in steep decline with the advent of the internet and texting by phone. Royal Mail will target these new boxes on rural areas, new housing developments, shopping centres and train stations. Surprisingly enough there are already 115,300 post boxes across the UK.
It May Get Easier but Costs More
I said good news for some, but woes for many. This increase in post box numbers is just as they are again raising the price of the first and second class stamp. Indeed From 29 March, the price of a First Class stamp will increase by 1p to 64p and the price of a Second Class stamp will increase by 1p to 55p. The price of a Large Letter First Class and Second Class stamps up to 100g will also rise by 1p
James Pirie Free Delivery
Well we here at James Pirie we set the standard for decent delivery prices with our standard delivery at£4.95p and free delivery on orders over £50 for the UK mainland. That sounds pretty fair to me after 64p for a stamp!
