Yes It Is September and the Shops have Started Christmas-
It Gets Earlier
Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat
Please put a penny in the old man's hat
If you haven't got a penny, a ha'penny will do
If you haven't got a ha'penny, then God bless you!
Shops Already at It and Poor Leonard
I took a stroll round a couple of shops this week and I was shocked to see full Christmas ranges for sale. My wife will be wearing a tin hat as she always dreads the onset of the season. So much so that last year we decided to do away with the Christmas dinner and instead in keeping with us being near the sea have one of the lovely bounties of the a lobster. So we went to our local fish man and he rustled up a huge prehistoric monster that would serve for the both of us without the drudgery of Xmas dinner preparations and a turkey that seems never to cook and the burn or dry out in an instant. So instead of worry it was cooked for us and we had only to prepare a few new potatoes and a salad. After eating a 1.6 kilo lobster we were stuffed and could eat nothing else for the day. But there is always a downside and ours was giving the lobster a name, Leonard the Lobster. Now Leonard nagged away at us, we invented his life story and worried about his kids and of course felt bad about eating him. So now we are probably doomed to cooking another more traditional meal this Christmas.
Back to the Future
But as to Christmas love it here at James Pirie and it is our busiest time of year and I think it’s worth thinking about even in September. And if like me you are going to embark on the dinner with all the trimmings then you’ll just love the Tunnock's Teacakes and Christmas Pudding apron by Gillian Kyle. It’s the ultimate Christmas treat, well a bit of a treat anyway. It is teacake topped with a sprig of holly and sitting on a background of festive red polka dots this limited edition apron is the perfect thing to wear whilst cooking your Christmas Dinner. I’ll be there! It’s on offer too.
