Banging Their Own Drum- Set the Place Alight
Banging Their Own Drum-
Set the Place Alight
Well those of you who read this blog regularly will know that i have a definite thing for the skirl of the bagpipes and I’m always therefore a keen follower of what’s on at the Edinburgh Tattoo which features many, many fine pipers. But this year it was drumming that caught fire in my imagination and that was because the drummers drummed with drumsticks that were alight. Jings! It was fun. And to cap surprises it was the Top Secret Drum Corps from Switzerland. I never thought of Switzerland as a hotbed of traditional drumming, but it is.
Top Secret Drunmmers
Way back in 1991 when most young people were deciding if they liked Oasis or Blur most, seven young drummers in Basel founded the group Top Secret in 1991. They wanted to play more than just carnival drum marches and began to mix the traditional Basel drumming style with other drum types and to cap it all they introduced stunning visual effects. So popular were they that they first appeared at the Edinburgh Tattoo in 2003 and to do that they had to recruit new members and expand their repertoire. And it has all been worth it. You can check them out on the Beeb or YouTube and they are grand. They have travelled the world, from Russia to Canada, Australia to the Unites States, from South Africa to China.
Drumming Up Business
Well as you know I’m never shy at banging the James Pirie’s drum, because it’s a fact that we do have pretty darn good stuff and at competitive prices that won’t set your pocket on fire. So whatever the occasion it’s worth a browse and inspiration usually comes pretty quick, because of the themed way we’ve laid out our offering. Unlike some I have to say. I always buy the missus her made in Scotland diary and every year it is a struggle to find it on the website as they change the name or restyle the range, enough I say! But you’ll find no such complications here, just honest value and an easy to use website. Have a browse at our occasions ideas, you’ll find them great! (That’s my Tony the Tiger impersonation)
