Don’t Give Anything That Is Dead This Valentine's Day
Don’t Give Anything That Is Dead This Valentine's Day
Red Roses Darling – Very Nice- They’ll Wilt Shortly
Did you know that in the UK we will give fifty million roses this Valentine’s Day and that for that one day the price will nearly double, even if you order early and by the way the delivery driver has bent the box! Roses were first given by the Victorians as a symbol of love and a nod to the Roman goddess of love, Venus. But you know how well we got on with the Romans – they built two walls to keep us out!
Prices Double for Valentine’s Say
Those clever chaps in the national press say that a dozen roses normally cost about forty quid and it leaps to sixty pounds on that fated day. And that most of the roses will have long wilted six days after you’ve pricked your thumb putting them in a vase and putting them on the breakfast tray with the Co-op prosecco and orange juice.
Buck the Trend with Our Lower Prices for the Day (And Beyond)
So that’s it, you are declaring your undying love with something that is already dead and which will soon wither, drop its leaves and be a handful to get rid of, what with the bin men only collecting fortnightly these days, by which time you can add smelly to the list of lovely rose attributes. Me personally, I love roses, but in the garden please!
Handsome is as Handsome Does
So consider the real meaning of love and think about something that will last forever, not drooping in a matter of hours. Think about the heart themed Caithness Glass – many lovely things are handily discounted too- love on a budget! Here is a rose that will never wither.
Or have a look at selection of goodies we’ve put together as Valentine’s Day gifts and tell me that the Co-op prosecco wouldn’t taste better in our gorgeous Belgravia champagne glasses, at half price.
