Children hunting Easter eggs discovered a frightened fox cub on a farm near Auchnagett, Aberdeenshire.  The cub, named Fidget, is now being looked after at the nearby New Arc Centre.

The fox cub is a three-week-old male was named Fidget and is one of the centres first orphan admissions of the spring season.

Fidget the Fox Cub

The owner of the centre said: “The cub is feeding peacefully. It’s at the stage where its mother would leave it alone more often, which might explain how it has ended up here. Cubs get up to all sorts of devilment and I reckon it might have gone out for a wee stroll on a hot day.

“There were a lot of kids running about doing an egg hunt. They’d seen it wandering quite a bit before deciding it was lost and picked it up.”

Fox Cub Abandoned

Foxes can be trained to be pets, but after they mature after the age of 10 months they become snappy and aggressive.

Fidget might have wandered too far from the den and got lost been abandoned by his mother.

“Fidget is at the stage where he wants to feed himself but like all toddlers he  is just more likely to walk through his food as eat it.

Back to the Wild

The centre plan on releasing Fidget back into the wild at the end of the summer when he is fully grown. Fidget will be old enough to make his own way.
