Droning on and On as the Sale Ends

Well I hope you enjoyed the special day for our patron saint, Saint Andrew, but I’m not sure that the drone operator in the Orkneys who ditched a very expensive piece of hardware into the sea will have enjoyed it as the investigations around the crash continue. A remote operator saw that the new drone mail delivery service for Orkney showed a fault on the system. And following protocol they allowed the drone to perform a controlled descent, but they didn’t take into account the flying vehicle wasn’t over land and was between the islands of Hoy and Graemsay when it ditched in the water. It went straight to the bottom of the sea.

The done service from royal mail has been in operation since August this year in an attempt to speed up deliveries from 24 hours to a single hour, but for the moment the service is suspended and it’s back to snail mail for the locals who will get their mail and parcels from the daily ferry service between Stromness, Graemsay, and Hoy. Luckily the drone wasn’t carrying any parcels at the time of the crash, or there might been some disappointed children when Santa came to call. When the drone company finds their drone, the service will no doubt be back up and buzzing.

Our customers at James Pirie won’t be disappointed by any drone failure when we deliver your goodies to you, but you might be disappointed if you miss out on the last day of our Black Friday sale which ends tonight on 30th November.  You might miss out on goodies like the  fine hand cut crystal Aviemore - Crystal 3/4pt Tankard in a lovely presentation box, and just for the moment it has got 60% off.
