DOGGONE!- Doggy News and Dog Figurines
It’s been a big year for dog news in the nation, what with the theft of a dog becoming a specific criminal offence after a slew of dogknappings across the country. This was due to the increased popularity of dog owning after the COVID19 pandemic.
The ability of Scottish dogs to win our hearts remains undimmed. A dog from West Lothian has gone viral after confusing some cows with her unique mooing-like sound. Fraser Nicoll from STV News or should I say Moos recently interviewed Lucie a dog from WinchBurgh that has confused all by not barking but mooing! The golden retriever has doing the cow noises since she was a puppy and she went viral after her owner shared the canine vocalisations on line, but Lucie is not alone in snatching the headlines in Scotland this summer. The Labrador is the nation’s breed of dog, but one black Lab recently took its popularity to new highs by getting high as a kite.
That was Tokyo the black lab who was with her owner who was climbing Ben Nevis and she wolfed down some discarded pot and then suffered some horrifying side effects. Tokyo, what a great name, the only other Tokyo I knew was Tokyo Sexwale who was imprisoned with Nelson Mandela on Robben Island, but a different character altogether. But back to the drug addled pooch. The poor beast was virtually unconscious when she was rescued by Mountain Rescue from Lochaber. The rescue team had to come to the dog’s aid, because the beastie weighs 25 kg so it wasn’t possible for the owner to carry down on her own. However, Tokyo is now very well and seems to have recovered.
