Scottish Farmers Feel the Pinch

Unhappy Scottish dairy farmers angry about the price of milk and on the brink of bankruptcy have staged protests at supermarkets in Kilmarnock and Ayr. They said 19 farms in Scotland had gone out of business this year alone.

At the Supermarket

The farmers filmed themselves buying all the milk off the shelves in several supermarkets to draw attention to their plight. They lose about £200 a day producing Scottish milk at the current prices paid by the supermarkets. They said at the moment they are paid only 15p a litre for the milk and it costs a whopping 24p to produce.
