Could You Live Off Grid?
A young woman has got so fed up with modern life that’s she’s remortgaged her house, rented it out and moved into a storage container. The shipping container has been refurbished into a basic home complete with a second hand kitchen and bath, but no toilet. Water is supplied courtesy of nature from rainwater harvesting system, i.e. a barrel and pipe from the roof! The young woman bought seven acres land in a remote part of Stirlingshire late last year after years of research. She with her boyfriend now live a life close to nature. Luxury is yet to be on the agenda and the couple sit on deckchairs of an evening and to have a bath they light a fire under a cast iron bath full of water. It must be fun in the depths of winter. The whole process of bathing takes a couple of hours, brr!
The couple wanted to buy a farm and to run a small holding, but the cost of farms, even though they aren’t generally profitable, is astronomic these days. The pair hope that a barn on the land can be converted into a more conventional home soon, but in the meantime they can enjoy the rural delights of sheep rearing. However, on site electricity is but a distant dream so they will have no internet and miss out on the grand delights of the James Pirie Grand Summer sale.
But as you are reading this you obviously have the luxury of a decent phone signal or Wi-Fi and so you can have a gander at the marvels of our sale, where we have up to 80% off some items, I kid you not.
