Teenager Now a Grandfather Gets His Wallet Back in a DeLorean Moment

It’s one of those heart warming stories you only occasionally hear about. It’s how a young British man was in a ski bar in France and how he got distracted and lost his wallet and then presto 55 years later it gets returned to him. Could it be true, or one of those urban legends we used to hear so much about? Well this one turns out to be true.

From 1960 to 2015 in a Moment

Bill Leech was a student drinking in a bar in a ski resort in France in 1960, when he had one of those Back to the Future moments  as Marty McFly experienced in that great film. If you remember in the movie in the sequel they went to the future and on 21st October 2015 which is today and met Biff the villain of the films.

Back to the Future Day

The whole of the plot features a lost Sports Almanac and it being given to an earlier self and is way too complicated for a mere blog posting. Anyway back to the grandfather and his wallet. Inside the lost wallet were a driving licence and ID which enabled the finder of the wallet, more than 50 years later, to locate and return it to Bill Leech.

The Value of the Internet

The real hero of this story isn’t a hoverboard or self tying shoe laces from the movie Back to the Future it was the internet, because it really brings both the past and future together in the easiest possible way. Mardo Martin, say it with a French accent, found the wallet when they were renovating the French bar and via the internet promptly found Bill Leech in Henley-in-Arden where he’d stayed all those years and within minutes she was chatting to him on his mobile.
