Autumn is Here, Balamory Returns and We Reboot Offers
Are you old enough to remember the BBCs Balamory from CBeebies? It’s been a while and it was cancelled back in the balmy days of 2005, before financial crashes, COVID and the wars dominating headlines. Balmory was actually set in Tobermory in Argyll and Bute. It was a pretty dream of a place, all pastels and oddball characters working out complicated, but heart warming problems. Well it’s going to be re-introduced for 2026 with a host of new actors for children to adore. However, it may not be set in Tobermoray this time, the programme might be set in somewhere like Rothesay, as the original houses in the series became something of a public eyesore and visual nuisance after the cancellation of the show and residents of the town we said to be “ashamed” and called it a “shabby backwater.” But that was a while ago and I’m sure the good folk of the town got it all sorted and made it tickerty boo once again.
But Balamory saw an uplift in tourism to the area back in the day with arrivals by land and sea. Huge cruise ships have become regular visitors and the roads were full of visitors. And no doubt this reboot will boost tourist numbers again once the show is introduced to a whole new generation of kids, whose parents probably grew up with the original Balamory. The stories will centre around the picturesque harbour, the nursery school and the teacher. Preschoolers will get to know all about a very gentle, fun version of Scotland.
Here at James Pirie just like the folks in Balamory we are always rebooting our offer to you to make sure we are always relevant to you our most valued customers and as the summer has coming to a crashing and very wet end we have put together a series of Autumn Offers to warm you up before the winter arrives.
