A Right Royal Occasion
There are going to be a lot of bank holidays shortly and none more important than the coronation of the new king, the first for 70 years. The scramble for invitations to the ‘do’ is well under way and there are many fewer attendees this time around for safety reasons, so many will be disappointed. So if you don’t have one like me, you’ll be watching at home, or perhaps you’ll venture down to the Metropolis and take a gander the royal couple on the 1.3 mile route from Buckingham Palace to Admiralty Arch, then down Whitehall and finally to Westminster Abbey. This is much shorter than the 1953, Queen Elizabeth II route which was over five miles long and allowed a great many people to see Her Majesty before the ceremony.
The Stone of Scone is being borrowed for the occasion, but it will speed back north straight afterwards. The new monarch and his Queen will travel to the coronation at Westminster Abbey in an updated version of the Cinderella vehicle used by his mum. It’s an all mod cons horse-drawn carriage, complete with electric windows and air conditioning. A must if you are togged up head to toe in ermine. On the way back they will ride in the Cinderella like Gold State Coach as used in every coronation since the 1830s. The Golden Coach is notoriously uncomfortable, even for such a short ride. Give it to me and I’d slap some decent suspension on it, though it might not look so romantic afterwards.
Now like most of my family and friends, you’ll be expecting us here at James Pirie to put out some tasteful commemorative artefacts for the royal occasion, and so not to disappoint you so we have. To commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, we have designed a perfectly beautiful collection of hand cut crystal. Each glass is lovingly hand cut and engraved with a design incorporating the Royal Cipher. And as you know the new monarch’s cipher consists of the letters C and R. The C standing for Charles and Rex in Latin, or Charles King. The striking intaglio hand cut design incorporates a rose, the thistle, a shamrock and the daffodil, representing the National Emblems of England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales. All in our signature gold coloured gift boxes with gold foil blocking or gold coloured presentation boxes with blue satin lining. Definitively it’s an instant family heirloom. I’m going with the King's Coronation, Highland Range 2 Crystal Champagne glasses so I can toast the royal couple in something sparkling.
