The Dash for Cash

Whisky in the Jar,  But Few Pennies

Cash is disappearing at the fastest rate, I had to hunt for the pennies and silver in the picture. We have a jar for loose change and the rule was that any pennies, two pennies, five Ps and twenty Ps would go into the jar. Over a year we might tot up a tenner or so and it was worthwhile, but since Covid and the near death of cash there was nothing but a few pennies in the jar But at last some good news for cash, even  if it’s not in our house.

Hubba, Hubba, Hubba

For those areas where their access to banks has gone, and there are mighty load of those, some locations have been earmarked for shared banking hubs.  If you are a small business trying to deposit cash this has been a problem and you very well might struggle to find a bank in your local area. Among the 13 new proposed banking hub sites four are in Scotland. They will be in Brechin in Angus, Forres in Moray, Carluke in Lanarkshire, Kirkcudbright in Dumfries and Galloway. These new hubs have become a lifeline for lots of businesses and ordinary people who can’t survive without access to cash. It’s dear do to run a local bank these days so all of the banks share the cost of these hubs. A kind of co-operative, but don’t mention that word to the banks!

Cash is King

Cash helps many people budget effectively, especially as the cost of living crisis grips, but they need access to cash. Some of the services previously announced haven’t opened yet except for a banking hub in Cambuslang. An expert says that Banks and building societies must treat their customers fairly and provide alternatives to branches where needed. Banking hubs are one of a range of tools they can use to ensure communities have easy access to bank services and cash. Well I heartily agree with that.  They’ll also put in unstaffed withdrawal and deposit machines in libraries and community centres to allow businesses to cash in their takings rather than drive many miles to the nearest small town. But let’s hope that the Scandinavian habit of taking a JCB to the cash machine and driving away with the lolly inside the ATM doesn’t catch on in our local community centre.

Help to Budget Effectively

Well we here at James Pirie are very happy to help you budget effectively and I can happily recommend these items in the sale. They are 2 Old Fashioned Highland Tumblers in a presentation box. The traditional hand cut diamonds and fan design embodies the spirit of the glassmaker. This distinguished wine suite was inspired by the Highlands of Scotland.  The glasses are a joy to hold and just right for a dram, or an old fashioned cocktail. It’s the way to make a good drink great!
