Buddhists  Tea Cup Runneth Over

Tea Packed a Bit of a Belt

Two Glaswegian followers of enlightenment managed to come to blows over tea at a Buddhist retreat near Nairn and ended up in front of the beak at Inverness Sheriff Court in Inverness

Robert, and Raymond, both middle aged men, fell out over tea arrived at a home at Hazelwood, Laikenbuie. It seems they had some ‘previous’ together and the bad Karma degenerated  into violence.

Storm over a Teacup

Tensions over a spilled cup of tea boiled over throughout the weekend and led to some head punching which definitely goes against the grain of a Buddhist retreat weekend, which is meant to inculcate the teachings of enlightenment and non-violence. Robert was accused of assaulting Raymond by punching him in the face but he denied the charge.

Sound the Retreat

The court heard the entire story, but with the absence of any witnesses Sheriff Fleetword couldn’t come to a decision for either side and said the case was not proven; which is a verdict only possible under Scots Law. Robert denied assaulting Raymond lodging a plea of self-defence, claiming that he was first attacked with a teacup..
