Taylor Swift Made the Earth Move

Well Swifties did it. They made Edinburgh jump in the rip roaring Taylor Swift concerts at Murrayfield where each time 73,000 highly energised fans made so much impact on the ground that it registered with seismologists 6 kilometres away. Altogether there were 220,000 fans over the three days of the concerts and it is official that they made the earth move. According to the boffins the maximum amplitude of movement attributable to Swift’s performance amounted to 23 nanometres. One of the geologists was a Swift fan and was able to identify which of Taylor’s songs led to the massive stompings.

The massive influx of nearly a quarter of a million people will have been a boost to the capital’s economy with such large numbers driving up hotel costs and swamping public transport, but in these squeezed times any boost is a good one. Although I’m not sure all of the Edinburgh locals would agree with me.

But what they might agree with me on is the stomping great value of James Pirie’s on line offering. It’s the season of wedding anniversaries, graduations  and school exam result, so what better time to point to our fabulous offers. But t is also the time when you might consider a bit of outdoor entertaining and even perhaps the ibarbeque. And if that’s the case why not have some classy stuff to impress all with your massively good taste. Whether it is for champagne, G&Ts or soft drinks we have some lovely offers for you. And we also have something new for the slightly chillier outdoor events.  It is Highland Stoneware and every item  is handmade in Scotland. They were established in 1974, a little bit later than James Pirie in 1890, but it are a highly successful creative entity. They're known for their excellent quality. From making their own clay to the finished pot, each piece is handmade by a dedicated team of craftspeople in Lochinver and Ullapool.

My very own favourite is the lovely Stag at Night which is the picture at the top of the page and is worthy of a place on any table, breakfast bar or desk.  Ask for free gift wrapping at check out and enjoy a classy warm drink.
