Single Decker
Cock a Doodle Don’t
We all know the sound of a cockerel greeting the morning with his loud cock a doodle do, but few of us have heard or seen a cock at a bus stop. Yet in Kincardinshire this week a cockerel has been found waiting for a bus. Well what with the state of the rural bus services at the moment he might have been waiting a very long time. As he didn’t have a bus pass the bird was handed into a rescue charity, the Scottish SPCA.
Cock o’ the Walk
The brave bird is reckoned to be a Light Sussex, which is no paltry breed and he was seen by a passer-by at a Maryculter bus stop on Lower Deeside. He was bussed to the SPCA’s Deeside animal rescue centre in Drumoak. The cockerel is now at the top of the pecking order with all the hen birds at the sanctuary
Not Desmond!
Staff at the centre aware of the likely coverage by journalists and bloggers, such as myself; have kindly named him “Decker”- so we can all make bus puns in our headlines.
The staff at the centre have also asked for likely adopters to come forward and look after Decker so he can resume his normal cock of the walk ways, preferably deep in the countryside and away from the lure of bus stops.
No Poultry Offers When You Are On the Wagon
Now I don’t know if Decker was waiting for a bus or a very special offer, but it would be nice to think of him hitching a ride with the Boswell family. Here they are riding their shiny new Bradford wagon from the Appleby Fair. Decker would be well at home, especially with the £70 off offer. It’s unbeatable! Fares Please, move right along inside!
