SANTA IS COMING- MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY

You wait for one Santa and then four thousand come at once, no it is not the night bus it’s the great Santa Dash in Glasgow, celebrating the festive season in near near-freezing temperatures. It was the first run in three years after Covid and the proceeds went to charity. It’s a five kilometre course and I have a confession, I too once went on a Santa dash and it was fun, silly and hard work running in the middle of so many people. This particular course wiggled its way beside Glasgow Green then through the Gorbals and along the River Clyde towards the finish line at the 2014 Commonwealth Games sculpture.  This year I did not take part! By the way, the first Santa Run was in Newtown in mid Wales in 2001 and Newtown held three world records for the most Santas on a run until 2004.

But if you want to know about the real Father Christmas then I have the perfect solution for Christmas Eve when you and the kids can track the old geezer on his journey from the North Pole, using the online Santa Tracker. It’s a real time tracker so as the world spins you’ll see just where on the planet Santa is and which should stop them from asking you!  The tracker has satellites 22,300 miles above Earth and they can geo-locate the sled at any moment. 2022 will be the 67th year anniversary of the Santa Tracker and to deliver all the presents Santa needs to fly at around 1,800 miles a second, and he needs to visit 390,000 homes a minute. Jings, no wonder all the mince pies.

Well while you wait to track Santa on Christmas Eve there are literally thousands of wonderful affordable delights that you can give for the loved ones in your life.
