Baby Red Squirrels Rescued
Orphan brother and sister red squirrels have been found and saved from the wild in Perthshire. The five week old twins are being looked after in the SPCA ‘s Fishcross National Wildlife Rescue Centre not far from Bridge of Allen.
Jar Jar and Binks
The siblings are recuperating under the care of the Scottish SPCA’s Clackmannanshire-based rescue centre. They have been named Jar Jar and Binks. They were found on the ground at Blairgowrie and it is likely that they had fallen out of the nest in a tree.
Fell out of a Tree
Mothers often move their young inside the nest and accidents happen, but mothers normally rush down and rescue the young, so it is likely that the presence of people nearby frightened her off.
He added: “When they are old enough to take solid food we’ll move them to one of our outdoor enclosures.
The centre manager said: “It’s good that they have come in together as this will help their development before their return to the wild.”
