Our First Brush with Winter Presages the Festive Season
Well winter’s here with something of a flourish with snow and sleet after yesterday’s fall down by the Cloudflare people which stopped a lot of internet traffic, which was luckily soon remedied by lots of people running round with their trousers on fire: Including here at James Pirie. Which was lucky what with the festive season approaching and the Friday that is Black hoving into view. But it hasn’t slipped my attention that there was good news for the nation what with a World Cup beckoning in the USA, with the draw for the 2026 World Cup taking place on Friday, 5 December at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, at 17:00 GM. And for those not so interested in soccer a long lost boat from the Borders has been recently recovered from the bottom of a Polish harbour. Christened The Incentive the fishing vessel was a part of Eyemouth's fishing fleet , but like much of the country’s sea fishers it fell on hard times and it was sold in 2016. It ended up in the Polish port of Gdansk where it became neglected and eventually sank. It was also a rarity, being one of only seven wooden fishing cutters left in Poland. But boat lovers in Scotland and Poland have raised the vessel and they mean to fix it up and have it working again and sail it it to the Berwickshire coastal town. Instead of being a sunken attraction in Gdansk it’ll be the centre of attention in Eyemouth instead.
And if you want your Christmas gift to the centre of attention then can I recommend that you look at our splendid Black Friday Offers.
