Mother's Day Shopping Threatened by Bad Weather

I just looked at the weather map and there is a yellow hammer shape over the entire east of Scotland and that said hammer is an amber weather warning for snow. Oh, it’s chilly I say! But I’m not there of course. I’m currently ‘babysitting’ a friend after an op. A series of yellow "be aware" warnings have been issued by the met Office and the usual chaos has ensued. It seems that dozens of schools and some offices are closed because of the heavy snow. In fact as I look I see all schools in Shetland are closed and the kids get a snow day in March.

The good people at Aberdeen council say that gritting will go on 24/7 for the present, but North East Scotland College in Aberdeenshire has already closed its campuses. Though I’m writing this at 9:49 am, so I don’t suppose most students are awake yet so they won’t have noticed just now. And it’s the same story if you are driving or taking the bus, delays, cancellations and confusion. The Met Office has warned snow and ice could cause travel disruption in Scotland through to Friday night with heavy snowfalls on Friday. Till then the Highlands, Aberdeenshire and central and southern Scotland will be covered by snow warnings. This of course all comes as a shock as there was such a mild February with that month being the third mildest on record and luring us into a false sense of security and fooling all those plants and animals into thinking that spring had sprung, but really all that’s been sprung is a nasty surprise on us all.

And as its Mother’s day on March 19th and that’s a mere 12 days away and weather is foul and guaranteed to get no better and maybe worse then why not plan to do your shopping with us at James Pirie. We’ll get the huskies out on the trail and get your mum’s day present securely delivered by those great people at DPD. They will brave the weather for you.  Now if you are feeling sentimental and want to give a special something take a look at our Herend Collection and the Small Blue Teddy Bear Animal Figurine in porcelain. They must know a   bit about gifts as they’ve been at this since 1839, even longer than us in 1890. They are a Hungarian company who have been setting the standard in porcelain manufacturing ever since, with their luxury creations which have entranced noble and royal families round the globe. Real gold is used in the detailing.
