Side by Side in Speyside -

Spirit of Speyside - Distilled Festival in Early September

A festival of food and drink is to take place in Elgin Town hall between the 9 and the 11 of September. Local producers of both the water of life and craft gins will showcase their wares along with the best of Scottish produce. The festival is inspired by whisky from Speyside, which is just what I am drinking myself at the moment. It was on special offer in a branch of Aldi, sorry there are only two in the country because by Jove they have good offers.

The Spirit is Strong in this One

The event sprang from the world-renowned Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival and the Benromach Distillery, the Speyside Craft Brewery and Macleans Highland Bakery  are all contributing to the fun and frolics over the weekend. Demand for tickets I am reliably informed is very strong, so if you are planning to go swoop now!

Whisky Stars

The star of the show is always whisky which is the region’s most famous product, but this festival will champion the regional food and drink. For the price of entry you’ll get to try top notch whiskies, gins and beers. Those who are cooks can learn about pairing whisky with food and how to use botanical gins and liqueurs.

Hurry, Hurry, Hurry

The £20 ticket price includes entry, a vouchers for five 10ml tasting samples of gin or whisky, a voucher for a tasting  a measure of a beer,  a glass and a light snack, featuring the best of local produce, prepared by event caterers, Good Highland Food. Sounds wonderful to me!

Our Whisky and Gin Stars

So if you want to try the best gin and whisky then of course it will taste even better in a lovely glass. You wouldn’t drink champagne out of a bucket, so please don’t drink a fine gin or wonderful single malt out of anything except the very fine.
