Beam Me up Scotty -

Much Loved Star Trekker Gets Right Royal Showing

I don’t know what it is about Scottish characters in Star trek films, but the first rule seems to be, make sure they aren’t Scottish. James Doohan had at least the sense to be a Celt, although he was born in Canada to Irish parents. Simon Pegg the latest incarnation as the young Scotty is from deepest Gloucestershire, he was born a Beckingham! Easy one for the house name that!

The Wrath of Khan

But now a historic royal palace in Linlithgow is to host a film screening to celebrate a town’s links with Star Trek. The screening is next month and it is The Wrath of Khan. Why are they doing this, because Linlithgow is the fictional home town of Montgomery “Scotty” Scott.

Star Trek Has a Big One and Turns 50

The chief engineer of the Starship Enterprise was played for nigh on 30 years by  the Canadian James Doohan. Scotty will be honoured with a free screening of a “director’s cut” of the film which will also mark the 50th anniversary of the TV series. The palace is best known as the birthplace of the ill fated Mary Queen of Scots, but in September it will honour the memory of everyone’s favourite ‘Scotty.’
