The Norwegians Are Coming –
Airline Creating Jobs
After a Dane snapping up much of the Highlands to protect the environment a Scandinavian airline called Norwegian has announced the creation of more than 100 jobs at Edinburgh airport.
Trans-Atlantic on a Budget
Norwegian is the third largest low-cost carrier in Europe and the second-largest airline in Scandinavia and it flies out of Gatwick to several USA airports, using a low cost formula. It hasn’t always enjoyed the best public relations though, despite winning a slew of awards in the low cost sector, but as they say it comes with the territory. Norwegian transported 30 million people in 2015 and we all know there’s many a slip between cup and lip with numbers like that all on a budget.
Based in the Capital
Norwegian is planning to base a few aircraft at Edinburgh and to hire 100 cabin crew and about 30 pilots as part of the expansion plans it has for trans-Atlantic flights. The airline already flies from the capital routes from Edinburgh to Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, Barcelona, Tenerife, Malaga and several others.
