This Is the Age of the Train –

Flying Scots Men and Women Get Train Boost

At last there is to be a direct link between the centre of Glasgow and Glasgow Airport as the last plan was abandoned in 2009. The new link will hopefully see the horrendous overuse of the very congested M8 shrink once the link is up and running in 2023. Although the airport lacks one distinction for all fans of the “King”, the only place where Elvis stepped in the UK was Glasgow’s other airport Prestwick.

Partnership Deal

The project will cost at least £144 million and will be paid for by the £1.13 billion Glasgow and Clyde Valley City Deal, an agreement between the UK and Scottish governments and eight local authorities in the region. It will create a new wave of business optimism in the region and may create new jobs as well as making life easier for all who use or work at the airport.

This is the Age of the Tram-Train

Soon passengers will be able to take “tram-trains” using both the existing railway network and a new light rail spur, AKA a tram, from Paisley to the airport.  The new link will deliver more jobs, bring in more inward investment and take the tedium out of a trip to the airport and keep traffic off the hyper congested M8. Construction of the rail link is scheduled to begin in 2022 and the system will be up and running three years later.

Slate Your Desires

If you can’t wait for 2025 and need to slate your desire some instant gratification then take a browse of our lovely slate items from the good folk at the Just Slate Company. Slate is very old rock and is fine-grained and derived from original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash that has been crushed and heated and become a metamorphic rock. None of which is instant! Unlike clicking a mouse!
