Lucky Underpants Help Andy to Be World Number 1 –

Is He the Greatest Individual Scottish Sportsman Ever?

Well it happened and I was wearing my lucky socks and underpants, clean mind you to help roar him on. It was all over in two sets, which is lucky because the great Scot was clearly out on his feet at the end after terribly tiring bouts with Nishikori and Raonic, both of which were of record setting length.  It was great to see that Novak hadn’t really settled despite Andy’s two double faults in the first game. And for once he seemed calm throughout, even when line calls were not perfect. We are 100% proud of him up here.

The Long and Winding Road

This makes 24 matches won in a row and 5 titles in a row, plus the world number one spot, so Andy is now Wimbledon champion, Olympic champion and world number one. It is a fine thing indeed. My wife was lucky enough to get a ticket for Andy’s 2013 Wimbledon triumph, there wasn’t one for me, and she saw him beat Novak then; although her day didn’t go without a hitch. She is so fair skinned that she collapsed in the heat was whisked away by the St John Ambulance and missed the second set and only returned to her seat for the start of the third and final set, but her face was in the crowd and I recorded it in on the Skybox. She sat behind a large lady waving a huge Union Jack. She’s the one in the straw hat!

History Keeps Getting Written and Christmas Is Coming

Well my lucky underpants can go away until the Australian Open in January 2017 and I can concentrate on the job in hand again. And of course the question of Christmas looms for us all.
