White Rabbits and April Fools-

I wonder where the tradition of saying ‘White rabbits’ three times before you utter any other words on the first of the month comes from. I certainly didn’t know about it until I met my wife and she will make sure one of us is awake at midnight to say it to the other, I expect it’ll be me no doubt. In mediaeval times it was to ward off witches like salt, yes it seems witches don’t like salt, which must make their fish suppers particularly poor. Anyway the missus thinks we don’t need any more bad luck, what with the skylight leaking, those darn prevailing winds and a couple of thousand to fix it.

And today is April the 1st home of the April Fool, well before noon anyway and it’s a double whammy for superstition in the household. Well there’ll be no spaghetti trees here, just the usual spot the ‘Fool’ in the media, well these days you’ll have to work hard to spot it! Isn’t that the Chinese curse to live in ‘interesting times?’ Well we are certainly doing that. But there are rays of good stuff out there and you just have to look for them.

Say it with Flowers, Well Why Not?

Among the good stuff I believe is James Pirie. And with spring about to turn the corner and arrive, well they say March is in like a lion and out like a lamb – think they got that one wrong this year, We’ve put together a great idea.
