Glass is Good- Plastics Bad –
Back to the Future with Recyclables
As avid readers of this blog will know I live beside the sea and the tide always brings in a mountain of other people’s junk and the worst of all is plastic. If you saw David Attenborough’s sea programme, Blue Planet, you’ll know plastic is much worse than we thought. There is a river near Manchester which have the highest levels of microplastics in the world. Jings!
Get Bizzy with the Fizzy
Well here at the Cube, that’s our house, we have taken things into our own hands. Fizzy drinks now come from a drinks maker, which i have to tell you isna cheap, but reusing plastic bottles time after time before recycling is the way forward we feel. And we are thinking of going back to a milkman, or is that milk delivery operative? I’ll have to ask Jimmy the milkie next time I see him. And that’s also why here at James Pirie we are proud to work with natural materials that are good for the planet. The beautiful glassware we make is a delight for years, not your nasty single use stuff and the Just Slate people use a natural resource that is hundreds of millions of years old and stays good for decades.
Not A Bandwagon to Climb on
We don’t really do bandwagons here, but if we did we would say the way to help the planet is to go back to the future and use the materials of our grandparents, glass, slate, wood and ceramics: All of which we proudly sell and which will stand the test of time. Take this Elizabeth Rose vase – a place to show nature’s beauty in the living room and a great present. This intricately hand cut rose design which has been launched in honour of the Queen.
