Lest We Forget

Now it will be hard for anyone not to have noticed that it is the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War which is when we generally wear the poppy and remember the heroism and sacrifice of the Great War. This year Armistice Day falls on a Sunday and lots of us will be attending remembrance ceremonies. As many of you will know I am a fan of the pipes and I was shocked to read that 1,200 unarmed pipers were killed in that war to end all wars: Such carnage.

Pipers Pipe :When the Battle’s O’er

Now on Sunday it’s hoped that as least as many as the 1,200 who were killed will stand up the  across the world and play When the Battle’s O’er at the exact time the Armistice was signed. It send shivers down your spine to think about it.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
