Zoo Finds Helpers after Blaze
Regular readers will know of my love of nature and the responsibility I feel we all have to the natural environment, as well as my sharp dislike of parking wardens (enough be still my beating heart!). So you won’t be surprised to learn that I was upset to see poor beasties being lost in the fire at Chester Zoo. Now lots of money has been raised by the zoo they have £120,000 already pledged by well-wishers. That cash will be spent on conservation projects in the UK and round the world. Good comes out of bad I see. It must have been a dismal sight as Orang-utans, macaques, gibbons and larger birds were led out of the fire struck area, but some frogs, fish, insects and small birds died in the blaze.
Festive Season Fire
The building was insured through the normal course of running the zoo and that will be repaired as you might expect, but what was interesting at this festive time of year was that people around the world responded to the fire by saying, how can I help? It was pressure from these people not the zoo that led to the enormous outpouring of sympathy and cash. It just warms your soul to think of all the kind hearted people there are out there, who can spare a few moments and a few quid at this expensive and busy time of year.
Nature Improved
As lovers of nature we greatly enjoy bringing lovely bits of the natural world to your table. The Scottish Just Slate Company has a great Marble & Slate Serving Set which is nature with an added touch of art. This stylish set comprises a rectangular slate board, marble bowl and copper spoon. And just because it is a fretsome and expensive time of year we’ve reduced the price from £35 to £28.
