Haggis Banned from the World Cup! Just as father's Day Looms

Almost every Scottish man and many, many women of the nation will be watching the telly this June as Scotland take on Haiti first then Morocco  and then tournament favourites Brazil,  but a lucky few will be there in person with the Tartan Army. The matches are June 14: Haiti vs Scotland,  in Boston at 2am UK time. June 19: Scotland vs Morocco, Boston at 11pm UK time and June 24: Scotland vs Brazil, Miami at 11pm UK time. However, those lucky few will be denied one part of their birthright, the Haggis! Since the 1970s the national favourite has been banned in America because it contains sheep’s lungs which are a no no in the USA.

There are alternatives in the haggis universe which replace the lungs with more heart or a bit of extra liver. And you’d hope that a US president with a  Scottish mother Mary Anne MacLeod  who was from Tong on the Isle of Lewis might find it in his heart to lift the ban on the foodstuff or at least promote the lungless alternatives on his native soil.  The ban came after a study was published in 1969 about the eating of “livestock lungs” and it has remained in place ever since, despite the inspection processes that all Scottish foodstuffs undergo to protect the public from harmful products.

And with both the World Cup and father’s day on the horizon on 21st June why not look for something special for the man in your life and what better than a large crystal beer tankard that’s five star reviewed and comes with free shipping  and free gift wrapping when you tick the box at checkout?
