Sir Walter Scott has been selected for a celebration of 50 years of special stamps.  The historic novelist and great Scot has been chosen twice before to be the recipient of a postal honour with two stamps about him, but now the Scottish man of letters is just that again.

A Man of Letters

This week a very large metal large stamp of Sir Walter Scott was placed  today on a post box in the Scottish Borders,  this marks the 50th anniversary of  the Royal Mail Special Stamps programme. It is one of fifty such stamps each feature a prominent Briton.

The Stamp of Greatness

The post box with the special Sir Walter Scott stamp is in Wood market, in Kelso, in the Scottish Borders his one time home. It is very fine indeed.
