Don't Get Lost When Choosing a Gift
A couple of weeks ago we were basking in the glorious sunlight of Barcelona and visiting lots of art galleries and it was generally a marvellous experience with the highlight being the first day of a Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso exhibition before the hordes arrived, but the most puzzling was Roman Ondak’s stuff with his largest artwork a coat cloakroom installation. This was a load of coat hanging racks in a space where you might have expected a cloakroom. It wasn’t a cloakroom it was art! It’s in the picture above.
So I am not sure if anyone would miss that piece of art if it went missing as it is huge! So enormous it would be hard to lose, but museums in Scotland could probably do it. There are thousands of items stolen, missing or whereabouts unknown from the nation’s institutions. This comes after London’s British Museum reportedly had 2,000 items pinched, some of them very valuable. The Scottish museum brethren have done their bit though, Glasgow's Museum of Transport has lost a life-size figure of a Japanese man in costume. The People’s Palace lost iron knuckle dusters in 2005, no jokes please about the city’s tough reputation. Some 4,000 items are reported as lost, stolen or missing at the National Library of Scotland, but the granddaddy of all the lost or stolen items is a £3m sculpture by renowned French sculptor Auguste Rodin, Le Bourgeois de Calais.
But we haven’t lost anything here at James Pirie, and there’s no need to search down the back of the sofa for a bit of loose change to finance your purchases as we’ve made some dramatic price cuts prior to our Black Friday offering. Why not take a gander at the Glencoe Large Crystal Wine Glasses in a lovely black leatherette presentation box from Royal Scot Crystal. It’s on at half price, but only while stocks last. Go on have a go, I’m off to go and look for my car keys. Now where did I leave them?
