Well neither did I, missing out on meeting the 14,000 guest at the nuptials of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant, covered in every newspaper in the world and now on this blog. She is, Radhika not my missus, the heiress to a pharmaceuticals company, he is the son of the richest man in Asia - so it must have been quite normal to hire a huge business venue in India and invite every A list celebrity, re-tread politician, billionaire tech guy and gossip column wannabe to the wedding of the decade, yes I’ve up-scaled it already. Bill Gates was there along with Kim and Khloé Kardashian and the Blairs! Quite a mix. Boris Johnson, who is he, even brought along his latest set of kids?
The London Olympic opening ceremony coast something like £27 million way back in 2012, so even allowing for rampant inflation this is somewhat over the top! A noted astrologer, are there any other kind, decided the best date would have to be July 14th for the final ceremony and so a dumper truck of cash was unloaded on the event. Private jets from around the world were conscripted for the event, leaving a shortage of the planes for the uninvited celebs and business movers and shakers left behind.
