Winston Churchill, “Winnie” to the wartime peoples of Britain is one of the most outstanding figures of world history. As London Mayor Boris Johnson puts it in his book about Winnie; Winston Churchill How One Man Made History : “What he had was stamina, sheer mental grunt – as Jeremy Clarkson might put it , ‘Here comes Winston Churchill with his hundred horsepower mind’ said someone before the First World War when a hundred horse power was a lot.” And here we have something that is also quite a lot.

Great Exploits

From his exploits as a war correspondent, sending his reports on the Boer War in the early years of the last century Churchill was never afraid to be bold and take a chance and it was his defining characteristic, making him the perfect avatar for the Bulldog Breed. Always in the forefront he helped introduce the very first minimum wage in 1908 and he served with distinction as First Lord of the Admiralty in the lead up to World War I. Later in the War he gave up his desk job and led a Battalion into battle on the Western Front. After the war he was Colonial Secretary and was the first to use airpower to try and put down a revolt, but his country needed him more as Chancellor of the Exchequer and he oversaw Britain’s return to the Gold Standard.

Depression, Wit and Dogs

A lifelong victim of clinical depression he was very fond of his cigars and brandy and was occasionally found the worse for wear. Indeed his wit made helped him top a recent t poll for the wittiest insults ever. When Winston Churchill was accused of being drunk by portly MP Bessie Braddock he knew exactly what to say: “My dear you are ugly, but tomorrow I shall be sober and you will still be ugly.”

We Stand Alone

But Churchill’s finest hour was to come when he led the British peoples and the Empire against the might of Nazi Germany when Britain stood alone.  He embodied the never say die attitude of the Briton with his fighting spirit and a definite interest in the bulldog breed, saying: “The nose of the bulldog has been slanted backwards so that he can breathe without letting go.”

This is our tribute to the Bulldog Spirit of the great man.

Be One of The Few and Return to the Gold Standard

After winning the Battle of Britain Churchill gave a fulsome tribute to ‘The Few’ saying:“ Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few. “Now you can join ‘The Few’ with this limited Edition of an exquisitely crafted Royal Crown Derby series which returns pottery to the Gold Standard of design and manufacture.

It has a Porcelain British Bulldog, a 5 Petal Tray and a delightful Loving Cup that will make you one of only five hundred in the World who own these beautiful pieces of commemorative art.

In one of his speeches before Parliament in 1941 he said:  “The mood of Britain is wisely and rightly averse from every form of shallow or premature exultation. This is no time for boasts or glowing prophecies, but … today we may say aloud before an awe-struck world, we are still masters of our fate. We still are captain of our souls.”

And although we hope that being one of only 500 in the world possessing  this fine  commemorative gift set won’t set you  off to shallow or premature exultation, we will allow that  owning  this fine collection of Churchilliania will give you a least a little reason to brag and enjoy a slice of Churchill exclusivity.
