What a thought that is and I can say I am a huge fan of beautiful trees and when me and the missus go to those big gardens I always come back with a myriad photos of trees. Especially if the trees are champion trees, which means they are the largest specimen of the genus in the nation. Every year the powers that be in the Woodland Trust decide on a Tree of the Year and this year the tree in question is in Scotland. It’s called the Skipinnish Oak and its existence was for many, many years a close kept secret.
The public vote on such things and the Skipinnish tree was the most popular, luckily it is not a Poplar vote! it was named after a well known ceilidh band by one of the members of the group. This ancient oak the Skipinnish Oak is also destined for a European adventure as it will be entered into the European Tree of the Year contest in 2025.
