A while ago I wrote about historic Upper Clydesdale gold which made up the regalia of the Scottish Crown Jewels, but a Turkish mining company seems to have been reading as they have now announced that Scotland still has gold worth mining!

Scottish Gold

Gold prospectors have found a major deposit in the tiny Aberdeenshire hamlet of Towie, no relation to the TV series, is bracing itself for the world's next gold rush after prospectors found evidence that it sits on major deposits. The hamlet doesn’t boast a shop or pub, but it seems it does have a bucketful of gold. The 300 inhabitants hope to benefit from the gold rush.

Turkish Delight

Turkish mining colossus Koza Altin Isletmeleri and the Highland company GreenOre are applying for planning permission for further investigation.

For the last two years GreenOre Gold has been working on the site. Now with the involvement of the Turkish giant travel agents are brushing up on their Turkish to tempt a new wave of tourists to this area of outstanding natural beauty and quiet, gold fields excepted.
