Remember Certificates Are Legal Documents

For new graduates getting their degree is a big deal and lots of young people want a permanent reminder of their achievement so they laminate their degree certificates. But don’t let them do it!

No Easy Route to Replacement

This is the official advice of Glasgow University: “Certificates are legal documents. They should be kept in a safe place and not laminated. We do not certify photocopies of certificates.” So if you want another copy our degree you may be in trouble. They go on to say “We issue replacement certificates only in exceptional circumstances, for example, if yours is damaged.  We reserve the right to deny duplicate copies.”

If They Say Yes It Is Fifty Pounds

Well that’s that then and if in their goodness they deem you are worthy of a duplicate then it is fifty quid for a copy. Other universities are exactly the same. They have problems with identification and possible fraud and it makes their life hard, so they will make the lives of careless graduates hard.
