Just When the Journey Got Better It Gets Worse
Just When the Journey Got Better
Not a Tunnel of Love
If you use Glasgow's Queen Street Station you may have to allow more time for your journey. Well the Fourth Bridge is open, they had to find a new way to stun and annoy Scottish commuters. Major tunnel renovation will mean that there are five months of the delays. A high-level tunnel used by Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Stirling services is now shut.
Marquees Are Not Glamping
If you want to catch a train you will have to queue in marquee and then be escorted to the train like a five year old. Most journeys will be approximately 25 minutes longer as trains are diverted to one of the lower tunnels or even to Glasgow Central. Of course in the future the £60m renovation will save you time, but the agony of a half year in a marquee is pretty fierce I’d say. They have put a 'one way' queuing system in place to make sure customers can safely access and exit the Low Level station. There’s also a limit to the number of services that can pass through Queen Street Low Level station, so they can't run as many peak time trains. They do say they’ll try and lengthen trains, but who knows what that means.
