Are You Expecting the Queen to Visit? –
What if She Does Come?
Well you could have knocked them down with a feather when a certain E R , her initials according to her post boxes anyway, decided to drop into a local Edinburgh pub. Not since Jeremy Clarkson surprised a producer in a pub in Yorkshire has there been a more unexpected event in a tavern.
The Queen Pubs It
The Sheep Heid Inn, Scotland’s oldest watering hole in the capital, normally a cosy gastro pub , suddenly became one of the few watering holes the Queen has ever lunched or dined in away from the palaces or London’s select few restaurants.
Seal of Approval
She has given her royal seal of approval to only a few of restaurants, but they knew it was her, as they recognised her from the stamps; and the owners had been alerted just a few hours earlier that the Queen might pop in for a bite and a pint of heavy. Oh, well you know she’s a real lady and would never drink out of a clunky old glass and never heavy. In fact apart from her not liking soup spoons, which it seems she regards as very common she is a stickler for what is best and what should be done.
A Glass for All Seasons
The Queen had been to the races at Musselburgh, not far from Holyrood Palace. The queen and an aide had a martini and a half bottle of white wine, along with two portions of lamb and a fillet of sea bass from the pub’s gastro men, a snip at £16.50 a portion I am told.
Be Prepared – Don’t Join the Scouts, Have Some Great Glasses
Well I am not suggesting that Queen is going to pop round to your house anytime soon, she is cracking on a bit at 90, see all our wonderful celebratory wares, but I would dare to suggest that if you haven’t got some very decent glasses to serve unexpected guests in now is your chance. You have deffo come to the right place here. Royal Scot Crystal has some great offers and you can get the best and welcome royalty, or even picky friends who drop by on the off chance.
