Get Projected on Edinburgh Castle –

Festival Opens with the Image of Ordinary People

If you live or have lived in Edinburgh you have been invited to share your picture with the world. Thousands upon thousands of local residents will have their image projected the castle and on its rock base, no jokes about showing on Arthur’s Seat please, as part of the opening of the International Festival.

Deep Time

The projection is an artwork called Deep Time which will telescope millions of years of history into just 18 minutes of art. Organisers are looking for hundreds of photographs of people who have called Edinburgh home, both those who live or have lived in the city.

What Is Post Rock?

Animated digital projections with lighting effects and a soundtrack by Scottish post rock  rockers Mogwai who Wikipedia say typically compose lengthy guitar-based instrumental pieces that feature dynamic contrast, melodic bass guitar lines, and heavy use of distortion and effects. By Jove! The band members are all named after characters from the film, Gremlins, strange parents they must have! You can submit your photo to the international festival’s website and this bit of the work will form part of the spectacular finale of the epic artwork.

Be Remembered for More than That

Well that’s a fine thing to do and be remembered for a split second in the opening of a word famous event. But if you want to be remembered for something less transit than a flickering image on the side of the castle wall then you have come to the best place. If you are celebrating an anniversary then check out the goodies in our anniversary ranges. It pays to think lasting.
