The Fashion Police of North Lanarkshire – Cops Pullover
The Fashion Police of North Lanarkshire –
Cops Pullover
No we have all been told to pull our socks up and there are bars where they will refuse you entry if you are wearing jeans, or look like you have come straight off the building site, but not many people have been pulled over by the police to set you straight about your fashion sense. But in North Lanarkshire Police Scotland has a new job as the fashion police. It seems that in order to be a taxi driver in that district you have to comply with a strict dress code and taxi drivers have complained that the ban on jeans is being enforced by the constabulary. It seems that drivers must wear smart non-denim trousers, skirts or dresses as a condition of their licences. And the gripe is that cops are pulling people over to enforce it. One taxi driver maintains that he was stopped at 2am by police for a dress code check and then sent home to change his garb.
Shut Your Garb
Now normally I would be hitting the puns about clothing like a good ‘un. I’d joke about showing them who wears the trousers; cops getting their knickers in twist, drivers getting shirty, or asking what do you call a jacket that's on fire? Answer a blazer. But I’m not going to go there, well not much anyway. Back to North Lanarkshire another jeans wearing driver was advised to buy formal trousers and then report to a police station. The council stated that no drivers had been found in breach of the dress code regulation and denied that the council had asked police to carry out checks. At that point I suspected bored coppers having a laugh. Naturally no complaints have been received from any passengers. The police are keeping mum under their helmet.
No Dress Code Required
The great thing about being on the James Pirie website, which is a doddle to use, is that there is no dress code whatsoever. You can wear a top hat, sport a natty jacket or surf in your skimpies. Nobody, but nobody knows. It is the great thing about the World Wide Web. It is incredibly informal and casual. But mark me we don’t take a casual attitude towards our customers, indeed we don’t. We are gimlet eyed about maintaining our offering and our service. Now as it is the first of March and with so much unusual weather about you’d be forgiven for thinking that spring is here, but we know that the weather round these parts can give you a resounding kick in the pants if you aren’t careful. So I’ll say the traditional “White Rabbits” for good luck through the month and point you to some handy bargains. Try out the delightful Portmeirion Botanic Garden Teacups and Saucers in a set of 6. It should be £111.00, but with us it is only £88.80: All that and Mother’s Day on the horizon. Drive carefully now.
